While the terms “Assessment Center” and “Development Center” tend to be used in a variety of ways and sometimes interchangeably, each type of center focuses on achieving different specific outcomes. An Assessment center is used to select candidates for positions within an organization, while a Development Center is used to identify participants’ strengths and weaknesses for training and development needs in order to prepare them for a particular occupational role. Both processes use a variety of tools or exercises for assessment in order to make objective decisions about participants.
BH encourages organizations to have their own managers involved in the assessment process as observers, and we provide training for the selected managers in behavioural observation and analysis.
Both types of Center, Assessment and Development, are custom designed for the client to reflect the competencies that need to be identified in the participant group.
